Alexandra Louise Phillips was the Green Party MEP for the South East Region from her election in May 2019 until the UK’s departure from the European Union on 31 January 2020.

Alex was one of seven UK Green MEPs; they sat together in the 52 strong Greens/EFA political Group.

Alex sat on the Employment & Social Affairs Committee, the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee, and the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee. She was also a substitute member of the Delegation for Relations with the Pan-African Parliament and a full member of the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

Alex’s main passion project as an MEP was the Green New Deal, a plan to create secure, well-paid jobs by investing in green industries. Other key issues that Alex focussed on as an MEP were Brexit; Animals; Environment & Health; Democracy; Youth Justice & Human Rights; and Green Economy & Trade.
